A Little About Myself
A Little About Myself
"Music is probably the only real magic I have encountered in my life. There's not some trick involved with it. It's pure and it's real. It moves, it heals, it communicates and does all these incredible things."
~Tom Petty~
I was raised in an Irish American family in the suburbs of Long Island. By the third grade I picked up the violin for the first time and since then music has become one of my favorite passions. Within a few years I was studying different tune sets of jigs and reels and playing them on my own time. I joined my first professional band in 2003 and have been a part of many projects with incredible talent ever since. I have a passion for transforming the sound of a fiddle in any musical genre from hip hop, pop, rock, blues, Irish, country, and of course classical.
"The violin is like hot sauce, it goes with everything"
~Lucia Micarelli violinist in HBO's Treme~
When I am not up on stage or practicing at home I am an ABA therapist working for children with Autism. I am a graduate of Stony Brook University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and History and will be attending Graduate school working towards being a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in the fall.
My family is my first priority which I would not have if it wasn't for music. My husband Todd and I met at a local open mic in 2008 and the rest became history. Our son arrived soon after and has grown up with the joy of music since he was in utero, and currently takes the mic on occasion practicing his third grade chorus songs during set breaks.
I have much to be grateful for when I look at my 20 year career in music. So many people that I have known and loved through music. Some are still here and some are gone. I see the last twenty years of my life and career like you would a year book in my mind. So many memories of all capacities that I could pinpoint in time from the songs I was playing or people I was playing with. And in all those years the set lists kept changing as I kept growing and still do to this day.
"The times you lived through, the people you shared those times with – nothing brings it all to life like an old mix tape. It does a better job of storing up memories than actual brain tissue can do. Every mix tape tells a story. Put them together, and they can add up to the story of a life."
~Rob Sheffield Author and editor of Rolling Stones Magazine~
So, I invite you to be a part of my ongoing musical journey. To continue what I hope, will be many more decades of music to come.
"Music is a language that doesn’t speak in particular words. It speaks in emotions, and if it’s in the bones, it’s in the bones."
~Keith Richards~
